Mental Health Resources
Supporting the mental well-being of Black American youth and communities.
Mental health is a crucial aspect of overall well-being, yet it often faces stigma and misunderstanding, especially within Black American communities.
At A Cup of Tea with a Black Woman, we are committed to providing accessible mental health resources to support you in managing your mental health effectively.
Research shows that social determinants of health—conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age—significantly impact mental health outcomes. Black Americans often face disproportionate challenges related to these determinants, including economic instability, limited access to quality education and healthcare, and exposure to violence and systemic racism (Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, 2020).
These factors contribute to higher rates of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and trauma within Black American communities (Williams, 2018). Furthermore, the stigma surrounding mental health in these communities can prevent individuals from seeking the help they need.
This page offers a curated collection of resources, including therapy and counseling services, hotlines, self-care tools, educational materials, and community support groups. Whether you’re seeking professional help, looking for self-care practices, or wanting to educate yourself on mental health, we are here to support you.
Explore these resources, take proactive steps towards your mental well-being, and remember that you are not alone.
Together, we can create a supportive community that prioritizes mental health and overall wellness.
